Certification of cylinders, valves and regulators by the BIS ISI
BIS certification is the process of obtaining quality standards certificates from the Bureau of Indian Standards for the manufacture and sale of various products in India. Indian BIS schemes for certification are mostly voluntary and allow businesses to decide whether they want certification or not. The Central Government does enforce mandatory certification for certain products to ensure that they comply with Indian Standards. These mandatory certification schemes serve several important purposes: protecting the public, ensuring safety for people, animals and plants, promoting the protection of the environment, preventing unfair practices and maintaining national security.
